RC Girl's Pre-Tryout Clinics
Join us for River City's Pre-Tryout Clinics. These clinics are a great way for you as a parent & player to see how we teach and train in our club. Our coaches also have an opportunity to see your child multiple times prior to the tryout, which gives them more information on the tryout day. Players are being evaluated at both the clinics and the final tryout.

Which Age Group Should My Child Play?
The age group you tryout for regardless of level:
Only select one age group to try out for. You may play up an age. If you are playing "up" and are not selected on a team in the age level you preferred, you may opt to play in your real age group. Coaches will speak with you about this at tryouts.
The following is usually the grade and corresponding age group:
11u = 5th grade (many 4th graders will try out for this age group)
12u = 6th grade
13u = 7th grade
14u = 8th grade
15u = 9th grade
16u = 10th grade
17u = 11th grade
18u = 12th grade
Players may try out for an older age group at any time, never younger. Examples of players in different age groups than their age:
1) Player is in the 8th grade (usually a 14s player) but does not turn 14 until after July 1, they technically can play in the 13s as an 8th grader. My question to the player and the parents "why would you want your 8th grade child playing with 7th graders?" At RC if you are in 8th grade, but only going to be 13 during the season we will STILL HAVE YOU PLAY 14s. Our philosophy is you should be getting prepared for HS and we believe, playing with a year younger group does not help you.
2) A player who is 13 and in 7th grade, but plays up in the 14s. At RC you will only play up one or more age divisions if YOUR SKILL SET is at the same level or above that age group. Players do not get to play up just because they want to. They have to earn the right to play up. If the player is not skilled enough to play on the top team in the upper age division (Navy is the top team for RC in all ages) This question will be asked of you at tryouts: 1) Do you still want to play up on another team (Red or White depending on where you have been selected) or do you want to play on the Navy team in your age division? That choice will have to made at tryouts.
